Emma was born on September 1, 1932, in the Antioch community of Rankin County. She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Bill Phillips, her mother and father (Lucille Steen Patrick and Anse Patrick), her sisters (Geneva Quarles, Edith Hughes, and Joann Lewis), and her brothers (Steen Patrick, Robert Patrick, and Barnes “Bunny” Patrick). She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Meadors (Bill) of Brandon, MS, and Ellen Bees (Ron) of Coral Springs, FL, and Ellen and Ron’s children, Jacqueline Ermer (John), Ronald Bees, and Ryder Bees, and one great granddaughter, Olivia Ermer, all of South Florida.
Emma attended Puckett High School and went on to graduate from the University of Southern Mississippi, where she met Bill, the love of her life. They married in 1955. Bill’s job required them to move to different states, where Emma made it her career to raise their two daughters and make a home for the family in each city. After 35 years, they retired and moved back to Mississippi, settling in Brandon. Bill and Emma were founding members of Brandon Baptist Church where she served faithfully.
The family would like to extend special appreciation to Tracey Floyd Cross and the staff at Plain View Assisted Living, as well as to Katelyn Williams and the staff and volunteers at HomeCare Hospice.
