Elizabeth Alma Borst

Elizabeth “Betty” Alma Borst, age 84, of Flowood, Mississippi passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2026 at her assisted facility, Cooperwood Senior Living in Flowood, Mississippi.

She was born April 15, 1942 in Springfield, Massachusetts to the late Clifford Earle and Beatrice Rose Grenier Borst. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1960 and began working for the local newspaper.

Ms. Borst moved from Springfield, Massachusetts to El Dorado, Arkansas in 1976 where she lived for 18 years. She worked at the El Dorado News-Times in accounting and attended Holy Redeemer Catholic Church where she was actively involved as a Sunday School teacher and eucharistic minister. She also enjoyed being a part of a competitive bowling league with her work colleagues. Moving to the Little Rock, Arkansas area in 1995, she worked for Wehco Media, the parent company of the El Dorado News-Times, retiring in 2009. To celebrate her retirement, she went on an Alaskan cruise, which had always been a bucket list item. She attended Christ the King Catholic Church both in person and virtually until her health began to fail her.

Apart from work and church, Ms. Borst enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, reading, watching sports, and travelling. Her favorite teams were the New England Patriots and the Boston Bruins and her favorite vacation spot was any beach.

Ms. Borst was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Barbara Borst; and brother, Robert Borst.

She is survived by her daughters, Danielle Borst of North Little Rock, Arkansas and Michelle Lewis (Kevin) of Ridgeland, Mississippi; grandchildren, Emma and Sophia Lewis; sister-in-law Mary Jane Borst of Dutton, Montana; and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2026 with a Memorial Service at 1:30 p.m. at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Flowood, MS. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arkansas Children’s Foundation, St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, or a charity of your choice.
