Eiko Soeno Peoples, age 86, passed away peacefully at her home in Brandon, Mississippi, on Monday, June 16, 2025.
Eiko was born on July 25, 1938, in Tokyo, Japan, where she met her husband, William Charles Peoples, while he was stationed there during his military service. Their meeting marked the beginning of a beautiful journey together—one that would span decades, continents, and a lifetime of love and partnership.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Soeno, and her sister, Yasako, of Tokyo, Japan.
Eiko is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, William Charles Peoples of Brandon, Mississippi; her children, Lindy Peoples of Brandon, Mississippi, Jay Peoples (Kelli) of Carthage, Mississippi, Jamie Peoples (Apriell) of Dallas, Texas, and Johnny Peoples (Kristin) of Sulphur Springs, Texas. She is also lovingly remembered by her seven grandchildren, Madison, Jackson, Bayley, Callaway, Peyton, Morgan, and Anna Kate, who brought her endless joy.
An avid tennis player, Eiko spent many joyful years on the court. Through the game she loved, she built lasting friendships and a close-knit community that remained an important part of her life.
She will be remembered for her quiet strength, unwavering devotion to her family, and the grace and warmth she extended to everyone around her. Her legacy of love, resilience, and kindness lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons and Hunter Polley.
Visitation will be held at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, Mississippi, on Friday, June 20th, at 10:00 a.m., with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at Shockalo Cemetery in Carthage, Mississippi.
