E. Grant Tharpe, 74, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at home. Visitation will be 4 pm until 6 pm Saturday, August 14 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. The family will hold private services at a later date.
Mr. Tharpe was born in Jackson, MS on September 29, 1935 to Clive Harris Tharpe and Thelma Hardin Tharpe, whom preceded him in death. He practiced law for many years in Jackson and he was a Landman in the Oil and Gas Field. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and he retired from Army Corps of Engineers as a Realty Specialist.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Dowdy Tharpe of Jackson; children, Larry Tharpe and wife, Brenda of Brandon, Eric Tharpe of Jackson, Tim Tharpe of Brandon and Kristy Sykes and husband, Rudy of Madison; sister, Ruby McLemore of Jackson; brothers, Clive and wife, Jan Tharpe of Winfield, KS, J.K. (Bubba) Tharpe and wife Suzi of Madison and Loring Tharpe and wife Jerri of Hot Springs, AR; grandchildren, Hayden, Harlee and Harrison Tharpe, Delaney Sykes, and step grandchildren, Nicholas Sykes and Audrey Melton.
In Lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Mississippi Animal Rescue League or Blair Batson Children’s Hospital.
