Brandon, MS - Dr. Bonnie Sue Davis, 84, of Brandon, MS passed away January 19th, 2024 at home surrounded by her family. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 pm Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS with a brief visitation starting at 1:30 pm.  Burial will follow at Canton City Cemetery in Canton, MS.

Dr. Davis was born April 25, 1939 to Marvin Sowell and Vela Wise.   She was married to Jimmy Daniel Davis for 52 years, who preceded her in death (2018).  She was a professor of nursing at University of Mississippi Medical Center from 1990-2005.   In addition, she held the degree of Nurse Practitioner and previously taught nursing at Gulf Coast Community College.  Bonnie was an active member of Crossgates Baptist Church in Brandon for over 30 years where she taught Sunday School, ESL classes and created a widows ministry. Bonnie served for many years at Bayou View Baptist Church in Gulfport, Mississippi along with her husband Jimmy.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, newborn son, and husband.

Dr. Davis is survived by daughters, Dr. Jennifer Davis (Kenneth) Morgan and Gelaina Davis (Robert) Allen; grandchildren, Myres (Claire) Allen, Ansley Allen and Chloe Allen; and sister Jeanlee Sowell (George) Allen.
