Doug Anthony Hammond went to his permanent home in Heaven on Monday, February 19, 2024.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with Rev. Mark Gill officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeland Place Memorial Park in Flowood.
Doug, a licensed real estate agent, resided in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. He was born March 5, 1971 to Bill and Lynn Hammond at Fort Rucker, Alabama. They moved to Mississippi, and he lived in Brandon until he graduated from Brandon High School. He attended Faith Assembly of God Church in Pearl, Mississippi for many years, where he made many life-long friends. He loved Jesus and he loved to be involved in the church.
He attended Mississippi State University, where he was a cheerleader. His major was marketing, and he graduated in 1992. While at Mississippi State, he joined the Air National Guard, and he loved flying. He later moved to California and worked with Actors Co-Op. His love for the ocean took him to Ocean Springs, Mississippi in 2019. He was surrounded by friends who became his second family.
Doug is and was loved by all who knew him. His smile was contagious, and he always had this quirky, joking personality that caught most people off guard. His loyalty was indescribable.
He is survived by his father, Bill Hammond (Faye); mother, Lynn Sanders (Joey); brother, Jason Paul Hammond; stepbrothers, Billy Tilghman and Stephen Tilghman; stepsisters, Melanie Sutterfield, Heather Tudor, and Leah Pinnix; aunts, Sharon Hammond Bayard (Dale) and Barbara Roberts; step grandmother, Betty Sanders; and many cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Harold Loyd and Martha Hammond; maternal grandparents, J.P. and Allie Roberts; step grandfather, Joe Sanders; uncles, Dewey Roberts, Gary Roberts, and Wyndol Thornhill; and aunt, Mavis Thornhill.
