Dorothy was born on March 29, 1949 to Virginia Sexton DePriest Cook Thomas and Ethern Allen DePriest in Rankin County. Since her father passed away at a young age, her mother remarried to Mr. Will Cook. He lovingly became her father. She grew up in Puckett, Mississippi with her sisters and brother. She is preceded in death by her father, Ethern Allen Depriest; mother, Virginia Thomas; step fathers Will Cook and J.C. Thomas; sisters, Eva Pinson, Doshia Prestage, Ruthie Thomas, Hazel Coley; and brother, Wilbern Depriest.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jessie L Prestage; her daughter Michelle (Doug) Sanders; son, David Lee Prestage; granddaughters, Angela (Justin) Westberry, Lauren Sanders; brothers in law Jack Thomas and Wesley Coley; sister, Emily Hynes; her furbabies, Buddy, Daisy, Radar, and Snowball; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was a strong and determined woman who loved the Lord and helping others. Due to her deteriorating health, she was unable to attend in person worship, but she looked forward every Sunday morning to worship with her church family at North Morton Baptist Church through Facebook live. Her love for the Lord showed through her compassion for others. She would help anybody and everybody. She loved spending time with her family and friends and getting visits and calls from them. She also loved her furbabies, iPad and DirecTv.

In lieu of flowers, we ask everyone to consider donating to the North Morton Baptist Church Media fund to help others like her who were unable to attend live services but can watch online.
