Dorothy was a Hazlehurst Native, born May 28, 1929, to John Henry Crapps and Ethel Marie Teasley.
Dorothy passed away in Jackson, MS Sunday, October 23, 2022, after living a long and fulfilled life of 93 years. Dorothy graduated from Central High School in Jackson, MS. Dot was a long-time resident of Brandon, MS. She was an active member of Andrew Chapel Church where she loved to play the piano for many years, and she also attended Andrew Chapel Baptist Church. One of her passions in life was creating beautiful artwork, including photography, painting magnolias, creating ceramics and so much more. Some of her artwork was displayed in the State Capital Building. It was truly a blessing to receive one of her pieces.
She loved palm trees, she thought they were beautiful. She always said I want them planted all around me when you lay me to rest. She also loved her family especially the little ones. Mama was a loving yet feisty woman who preferred things to go her way.
Dorothy joins her loving and adoring husband of 63 years, Edgar Earl (Red) Prestage, Sr. (who passed and was laid to rest just twelve days prior). Additionally, she is preceded by son Danny K Boggs, siblings Gladys Clark, Everett Crapps, Margaret Johnson, and William Crapps.
Nothing was quite as important to Mama Dot (as she was affectionately known) as her Family. She leaves behind her two loving sons, John Paul (Butch) Prestage (Pam) and Edgar Earl (Buster) Prestage, Jr. (Jana). Also, eight grandchildren, Teresa Beers, Michelle Odom (David), Johnny Boggs, Amy King (Jerry), Erika Barron (Jason), Rayne Prestage, Tess Tatum (Cody), and Taylor Prestage. As well as Thirteen great grandchildren, Jessica, Elizabeth, Daniel, Zachery, Amber, Melissa, Johnny K, Reagan, Waylon, Sawyer, Charlie, Presley, and Addy Kate.
