Doris M. Bird

On Sunday, September 20, 2026, at 10:58am, Doris Maxine Rhodes Bird closed her eyes, breathed her last earthly breath, and peacefully walked into the arms of her Lord and Savior. Visitation will be held on Fri. Sept. 25, 2026 from 9:30am-11am at Fannin Baptist Church in Fannin, MS. Funeral Services are 11am on Fri. Sept. 25, 2026 at Fannin Baptist Church. Graveside services are 2:30pm on Fri. Sept. 25, 2026 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Greenville, MS. Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS is handling arrangements.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Pearl Rhodes, her husband, Jesse Ray Bird, and her brother, Dale Rhodes. She leaves behind her 4 children, Linda Kern, Janet Elenburg (Eddie), Michael Bird (Donna), and Ron Bird (Debbie).

Sug, as she was lovingly called, was blessed with 8 grandchildren: Sabrina, Luther, Dawn, Brian, Rafe, Anna Ray, Joseph, and Matthew along with 16 great grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren.

A humble, quiet, faithful, servant of God, Doris was a member of the Haysville Christian Church in Haysville, Kansas where she had made her home for the past 12 years. Loved by all who met her, she was a shining light of Christ for all to see.

Proverbs 31:29-31 best describes her. “There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all! Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised. Reward her for all she has done.”
