Diane Garren Skelton

Diane Garren Skelton, 84, passed away peacefully in Oxford, Mississippi on Sunday, August 3, 2025. She was born in Greenville, Mississippi to Seawell Joseph and Janie Garren.

She grew up in the Mississippi Delta attending Leland Public Schools and graduating from Leland High School with the class of 1958. She was blessed to enjoy close lifelong friendships with many of her classmates in the LHS class of 1958.

After high school Diane attended and graduated from Mercy School of Nursing in Vicksburg and New Orleans.

She married Don Allen Skelton, Sr. in 1962 and they have two children, Diane (Dee) and Don Allen (Bubba), Jr.

She enjoyed a long career as a registered nurse, serving in various capacities that included working as a floor nurse, recovery room nurse, doctor’s office nurse, and nursing director of outpatient surgery at several locations, including the Mississippi Delta, Jackson, MS area, Georgia and Louisiana.

Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Don A. Skelton, Sr., her parents, S.J. and Janie Garren, granddaughter, Lauren Olivia Skelton, and her brothers, James “Buster” Garren and Seawell Joseph Garren, III.

Survivors include: daughter, Diane Dorch (Robert); son, Don Skelton, Jr. (Tammie); grandchildren, Trey Skelton (Mary Kate) and Paxton Dorch; sister Judy Garren Smith, and numerous family members and loved ones.

Diane and Don were longtime supporters of St. Jude Children’s Hospital and it is her wish that memorials be made to support their work.

A memorial service will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, MS on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 2:30 pm.
