Dessie Corinne Yelverton Watts, 82, passed away on Tues. June 10, 2025, at the Briar Hill Nursing Home in Florence, MS. Visitation will be held on Sun. June 15, 2025 from 5pm-7pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS and on Mon. June 16, 2025 from 12pm-1pm at Good Shephard Lutheran Church in Flowood, MS. Funeral Services are 1pm on Mon. June 16, 2025 at Good Shephard Lutheran Church with burial to follow in the Providence Lutheran Church Cemetery in Burns, MS.
Mrs. Watts was born on Jan. 22, 1943, to the late Jasper Maurice Yelverton and Ruth Hallman Yelverton. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Flowood, MS. Mrs. Watts was a former leader of the Compassionate Friends Group and an active supporter of Heritage House. Mrs. Watts was a person who took care of others, especially children, putting people’s needs above her own. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and an unwavering faith in God. She had a profound impact on the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her two children, Christy Woods (Chris) and Rick Watts; stepson, Terry Watts (Ellen); brother, Jasper Maurice Yelverton (Bitsy) and four grandchildren, Justin Watts (Katie), Jaci Watts, Ethan Woods and Andrew Woods. Mrs. Watts is also preceded in death by her husband, Richard G. Watts; son, Todd Watts; stepson, Richard Watts; grandson, Matthew Watts; sister, Patricia Ann Lennard and a brother, Franklin O’rell Yelverton.
