David May, 76, of Forest, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at his home on October 16, 2025.
Born on August 25, 1949, in Memphis, Tennessee, David was the son of D.A. May and Dot May. He graduated from Forest High School in 1967 and went on to earn a master’s degree from Delta State University in Guidance Counseling. Shortly after graduating, he began his career in education at Scott Central Attendance Center, where he earned the “Teacher of the Year” award after his first year of teaching.
In 1971, David married the love of his life, Judy Swords, beginning a devoted marriage that spanned more than five decades. Together, they built a life filled with faith, family, and laughter.
David retired from MetaFoods in 2020 after 32 years of dedicated service and commitment. In his younger years, David enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and golfing. Affectionately known as “Mayor of Oak Park Drive,” David was a cherished neighbor to many.
David is survived by his mother, Dot May; his beloved wife, Judy May; his two sons, Scott May and Casey May; and his granddaughter, Maggie May. He was preceded in death by his father, D.A. May.
Family, friends, and others who knew and loved David are invited to attend his visitation and funeral services at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest. The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025 at 10am with visitation prior to the funeral service, from 9-10am. The pallbearers are Russel Swords, Larry Rogers, Randy Eason, Van Jones, Randy Jones, and Delton Harris. The honorary pallbearers are Mike Evans, Drew Evans, Hal Risher, and Owen Boutwell.
