David Wayne Ivy, Sr., 67, of Brandon, MS, passed away on June 25, 2022. He was born on December 9, 1954, in Vicksburg, MS, but spent his youth in the Mississippi Delta in Greenville, MS. He loved playing baseball as a youth in a vacant lot next door to his home on Airdale Dr. With his brothers & neighborhood friends. He loved classic cars, hot rods and street rods and would later enjoy car shows that raised money for CARA.
David loved riding his Yellow Harley Road Glide Bagger and attended multiple motorcycle rallies throughout the south. He was a member of Jackson HOG Chapter 2496 (Harley Owners Group). He was also a former member of the American Legion Rider’s post 112 in Jackson & a member of the Mississippi Patriot Guard Riders. David and his wife, Barbara, helped break The Guiness Book of World Records for the Largest Parade of Harley-Davidson Motorcycles with 3,497 Harley’s in Paris, Texas on October 5th, 2019.
David enjoyed hunting & fishing with his children and grandchildren but his dogs were his favorite children.
David was preceded in death by his 21-year-old son, David Wayne “Bubba” Ivy, II, his 17 year old granddaughter, Olivia Rae Ivy, both of Brandon, his parents, Warnie Lee Ivy and Jewel Smith Ivy, his brothers, Sammy Lee Ivy, Johnny Ivy, and James “Pete” Ivy, all of Greenville, MS.
David is survived by his wife, Barbara Carollo Ivy, formally of Leland, MS, his daughter, Penny Ivy Thompson (Jeremy), of Brandon, MS, grandsons, Morgan Cade Thompson (Tressie) of Puckett,MS, & Peyton David Thompson (Kourtney), of Purvis, MS, his sister, Betty Ivy Andrews (Ed), of Gulfport, MS and his furbabies, Hank, Rudy, Beau & Spur that live on Easy St.
Services will be Saturday morning, July 9th at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon located at 1360 West Government St. Brandon, MS 39042. Visitation will be at 9:00 AM & Memorial service at 10:00 AM followed by an escort to David’s Celebration of Life located at his home.
