Dale G. Jernigan, 74, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be held Friday, April 17, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Ott & Lee Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel, with burial at Brandon Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Jernigan was born on November 14, 1951, in Jackson to the late Dave P. Gayden and Jane Willingham Gayden. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Susan Gayden Johnson.
Mrs. Jernigan was a third-generation graduate of Brandon High School and later graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Business, where she met Blair, her husband of 54 years. Dale and Blair lived in Brandon, Mississippi, for over 20 years, where they faithfully served their church, community, and local schools while raising their children. They later relocated to Batesville, Mississippi, where they spent another 20 years actively involved in their community and in ministry with young adults through their church. Recently, Dale and Blair, had moved to Madison, Mississippi, to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Dale lived with quiet grace, humility, and a servant’s heart, finding strength and peace in her faith and serving others through her gift of extraordinary hospitality. She loved gardening and devoted her time to ministering to others, first with seniors and later with young adults but always to her family and friends first.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and her family was the greatest devotion of her life other than her faith. She is survived by her husband, Blair Jernigan; her two sons, Brian Jernigan (Emily) and Eric Jernigan (Leigh); and her three cherished grandchildren, Jane Gayden Jernigan, Alice Elizabeth Jernigan, and Rivers Louise Jernigan.
Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior.
