Colleen Thelma Lloyd Meek

Colleen Thelma Lloyd Meek left this life to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 24, 2026 at the age of 61.

Colleen was born on February 18, 1965 in Windhoek, South West Africa (now Namibia) to the late Desmond Lloyd and Delores “Lola” Lloyd Cuddon. At age 5, she moved with her family to Cape Town, South Africa, where she completed her schooling which culminated in a teaching certificate (the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree) from Cape Town Teachers College. Colleen was an excellent teacher and was skilled in the early elementary age group. She taught for several years in South African schools before her move to the United States in 1991. After a brief time in Texas, she moved to Columbus, Mississippi. She loved art and music, and incorporated both into her classroom while teaching at Heritage Academy and Columbus Christian Academy. She tutored students for several years and homeschooled her boys for a year. She was known for her strong work ethic and love for the children in her class.

Colleen loved her three sons, and during their childhood, treasured the unique relationship she had with each one of them. She was the mom who seldom missed soccer, swimming, junior bible quiz meets, school field trips, or any other of the myriad of activities the Meek boys were involved in.

Colleen had many skills and interests to include reading, cooking, tennis, and the outdoors. She had a deep love for her home country of South Africa. The beach was her happy place, and she looked forward to their annual family vacation to North Redington Beach, Florida. Colleen was clear about her love for her Lord Jesus and was consistently involved in church from the time she became a Christian at the age of eight when a friend’s family took her to the local Sunday School in Cape Town. Through the years, she was heavily involved in a range of church ministry activities and openly shared her heart for the Lord. Many have been touched by her expressions of faith.

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her three sons: Joel (Sara Beth) Meek of Brandon, MS; Aaron Meek of Gulf Shores, AL; and Jordon Meek of Columbus, MS; two brothers: Gavin Lloyd of Cape Town, South Africa, and Kenny (Rose) Lloyd of Port Elizabeth, South Africa; Three grandchildren: Liam Meek, Molly Kate Meek, and Macy Meek; A niece: Jenna Lloyd; two nephews: Noah Lloyd and Zachary Lloyd. She will be dearly missed by her family and host of friends.

A celebration of life ceremony will take place at the Pinelake Chapel at the reservoir campus in Brandon, Mississippi on Thursday, October 1. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am. Service will begin at 11:00 am.
