Clyde Ray Stingley, a native of Pelahatchie, MS, passed away on April 19, 2026 at the age of 86. Visitation will be held on Thurs. He was at home in hospice care and surrounded by family. He was born on the 7th of June, 1939 at the Holifield Hospital in Brandon, MS. Clyde was active in his church, Pelahatchie Baptist, his school and the community from an early age. His youth was filled with activities such as Boy Scouts, Royal Ambassadors, Bible drill, high-school basketball, selling boiled peanuts for extra money, breaking up gardens with the tractor for people, swimming at Pelahatchie Lake, and taking the bus to Jackson to take in a “picture show”. Later in life, Briarwood Drive Baptist Church became the church home for he and his family.
He attended Mississippi State University earning an accounting degree and eventually became an auditor with Mississippi Federated Coops (MFC), a job he thoroughly enjoyed. Later on, he became an insurance underwriter for American General Insurance.
One of Clyde's favorite pastimes was training his German Shepherds in obedience. While living in Jackson, MS, he became a trainer in the Jackson Obedience Training Club for a number of years. That hobby led to raising German Shepherds. Another hobby was woodworking. Clyde began making Adirondack lawn chairs and that developed into furniture. He became a member of the Jackson Woodworking Club and the Magnolia Woodturners Club.
Clyde will be remembered for his endless “Pap-Paw” jokes and stories, his recall of peoples' names (their brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers etc; you get the idea!), his favorite “ruler” suspenders and his reserved but deeply felt love for his family.
He was predeceased by his parents, E.G. “Tot” Stingley and Lucille Barnes Stingley and son, Johnathan Ray “John” Stingley.
He is survived by his wife; Delores Blakeney Stingley, his oldest son, Jeffrey Reid “Jeff” Stingley(Keri); his brother, Joseph Young “Joe” Stingley (Sharon); nephews, Joseph Todd “Todd” Stingley and Rhett Stingley; daughter-in-law, Monique Stingley Tennyson (Zohn); granddaughters, Ashton Phillips Carter (Sid) and Anna Phillips (Gage Parker); great-granddaughter, Karlie Carter and a host of extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
