Claude Donnie Brown, age 55 and a resident of Laurel died Saturday, April 16, 2022, at Hospice Ministries following a brief illness of multiple organ failure due to diabetes.

He was born on June 5, 1966, to his parents, Claude D. Brown and Betty Jean Leach Brown Walker in Newton, MS.  Donny graduated from Lake High School in Scott County in 1984 and joined the U.S. Army later that year.  He served as a medic until 1987.  On June 1, 1987, he married Sonia R. Laramore of Pearl, MS at Lake Christian Church.  They did not have any children.  Donny was baptized at Highland Baptist Church in Laurel, MS on December 29, 2013.  Donny also served in the MS Army National Guard from 1991-to 1997 as an MP and Medical Assistant. During this time Donny also attended Hinds Jr. College to receive his plumbing certification, and in 2009 he attended Vatterott College and received his universal license for heating and cooling. Donny loved camping, gaming, watching movies with his wife, painting outdoor scenery, and spending time with his wife. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Claude D. Brown, his grandparents Minnie (Prestage) and Alex Brown, Gladys (Fagan) & Charlie Leach; his father-in-law Gary Laramore and 2 sisters-in-law Lynn (Walker) Brown and Tina (Laramore) Hawk.

Survivors include his wife, Sonia Brown of Laurel, mother Betty Walker (Charles Sanderson) of Laurel, MS, 1 brother, Terry Brown of  Lawrence, MS  1 niece, Bianca (Robby) Carey of Newton, MS.  3 nephews, Dawson Brown of Lawrence, MS., Mitchell Laramore of KS and Brandon Laramore of MO.; 1 great-niece Payton Rae Carey of Newton, MS 2 great-nephews, Aiden and Easton Carey, both of Newton, MNS and his mother-in-law, Anna (James) Webb of Patterson, MO.

In lieu of flowers or memorials, Sonia would like to encourage couples to treat each other to dinner, and just spend time with their loved ones.

A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced by the family.
