Visitation: Sunday, October 30, 2022 from 5pm-8pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.

Vistation: Monday, October 31, 2022 from 10:30am-11:00 am at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Forkville.

Funeral service: 11 am Monday, October 31, 2022 at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Forkville.

Burial: Church cemetery.

Arrangements were entrusted to Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.

Mr. Charles “Billy” Coward, age 90, a resident of the Morton area passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Scott Regional Hospital in Morton.  Visitation will be held 5-8pm Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and 10:30-11am Monday, October 31, 2022 at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Forkville.  Services will be 11am Monday at Bethlehem Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.  Bro. Matt Armstrong and Bro. Charlie Jones will officiate the services.

Mr. Coward was born in Scott County on October 18, 1932.  He was proud to serve in the United States Army.  He was enlisted from January 16, 1951- June 30, 1973.  He was a Sgt. 1st Class-E7 Medical Tech/LPN.  He served in Korea 1951-1952, Germany 1953-1956, 1967-1968, Vietnam 1962-1963, 1968-1969 and then retired at Leavenworth, KS on June 30, 1973.  Charles was a proud member of the VFW 5586 and served as Quartermaster.  His military career was something he was very proud of and he was honored to serve his Country.  Traveling the world was something he enjoyed doing, working in his garden and flowers, fishing, deer hunting and riding his 4-wheeler.  Charles loved his family very much and his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren were the apple of his eye.  He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Glenwood Charles Coward and Lula Mae Jeffcoats Coward; children, Cynthia K. Coward and Steven Andrew Coward; 1st wife and mother of his children, Eunice Powell Coward; 2nd wife, Betty Wallace Coward; 3rd wife, Marjorie Alford Coward; siblings, Glenn Coward, Peggy Joyce Coward, Janice Coward, Bobbie Cox and Genell Brown.

He is survived by his loving children, Debbie Heddinghaus of Missouri, David Coward (Cheryl) of Missouri and Laurie Coward Gilbert (David) of Lena; step children, Tammy Gilbert, Twyla Pope, Teresa Leamond and David Alford; brother, Arthur Coward (Myra) of Tupelo; 8 grandchildren, Kishia Vickers, Summer Vickers, Roy Vickers, Glenwood Coward (Beth), Kyle Coward (Amber), Amanda Harvey (Max), Torie Lee (Wayne) and Brooke Gilbert; numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Lee, Max Harvey, Tracey Walker, T.J. Johnson, Terrell Harvey and Will Hamilton.  Honorary pallbearers will be Glenwood Coward, Zakary Lee, Colton Lee, Kyle Coward, Noah Harvey, Greyson Lee and Kyler Coward.

In Lieu of flowers memorial may be made in his memory to the Vietnam Memorial Wall or any Military organization of your choice.
