Carolyn Wright Hust was born on May 17, 1936 and went to be with the Lord on October 9, 2022. Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and was lovingly known as “Gram” by family and friends.
Carolyn married James Lamar Hust, Jr. who she referred to as “Jimmy” and “Daddy Man” on July 27, 1955. They were married for 67 years and had four children. Carolyn spent her life serving the Lord and loving others. She was known for her affectionate personality and was at her highest level of joy when she was surrounded by her family. She was a great cook, whose specialties were many, but most loved by her family was her famous cornbread. While she will be sorely missed, she has made a lasting impression on the family and friends who loved and admired her.
In the 1970’s, Carolyn and her partners Bobby Anthony and Don Ford developed a market for poultry exports to many foreign countries. Carolyn served as Chief Financial Officer of their company, American Poultry International, until her retirement in 2007.
Since 1950, Carolyn was a Charter member of Highland Baptist Church of Jackson. In 1960, she began teaching children and in 1970 was elected as the Highland Baptist Church Treasurer. She served in these positions until 2017.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia and Pat Wright, her sister Shirley Roland and brother Ray Wright, and her grandson Caleb Ross. She is survived by her four children, Jim Hust (Jayne), Cyndy Schieber (Mike), Jack Hust (Sharon) and Kim Awesome (James). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jonathan Hust (Shanon), Jennifer Wilson (Michael), Shelly Spaulding (Chris), Rachel Chinsethagid (Mitt), Drew Knight (Ashley), Spencer Knight, David Hust (Jessi), Kallen Ross, and Olivia Brooks (Tanner); and great-grandchildren, Ryan, Neela, Nadia, Will, Caroline, Charlotte, Cooper, Kaleb, Jack, Sally Kate, Willow, and soon to be Baby James and Baby Mylo.
