Carol Ann Parten

On Sunday, October 13, 2024, Carol "Mamaw" Parten, loving wife and mother of three children, went to be with Jesus.

Carol was born on November 27, 1944, in Jackson, MS. Carol graduated from Morton High School. After high school, Carol attended East Central Junior College, where she met her husband, Melvin Parten. Her career life included wonderful stops with many people. The majority of her career was spent with Sanderson Farms in Flowood, MS.

Carol married Melvin Parten in 1964, and they raised three children. Throughout her life Carol was faithful in her commitment to the church. Carol spent many years of service at McLaurin Heights Baptist Church in Pearl, MS, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.

Carol had such a heart of love for Jesus. She longed to be with Him daily through her time reading the Bible, worshipping with her family at Pinelake Church, and with her Bible study group at Independence Condominiums in Flowood, MS.

Carol loved her family with a passion. She and Melvin were married for nearly 55 years before he passed away in 2019. Carol had a special mother's love for her three children, Robin, Steve, and Michael. She was faithful in her presence to celebrate with each of them in life's achievements and was faithful in her presence to cry with each of them when life was painful. Carol loved being a grandmother to her five grandchildren. They knew that they could always find their Mamaw in the stands to cheer them on in football, cheerleading, baseball and more. The last six years of her life were so special as she experienced life as a Great-Grandmother. She experienced such joy with her five great-grandchildren, as she watched her grandchildren grow into parents of their own.

Carol is survived by her three children, Robin Holloway (Dave), Steve Parten (Leigh Ann), and Michael Parten; five grandchildren, Brooke Miller (Zach), Kaitlyn Holloway, Micah Parten (Jillian), Noah Parten (Maddie), and Caleb Parten (Britny); five great grandchildren, Piper Parten, Bella Parten, Josie Parten, Jon Hank Parten and Samuel Jett Carter Parten; one sister, Diane Freeman (Granville).

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 17, from 9 am - 10:45 am at Pinelake Church (Venue) in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services will be at 11 am, following the time of visitation. Burial to follow at Lakeland Place Garden Park Cemetery in Brandon, MS.
