Carol Brantley Bolen

Carol Brantley Bolen was born August 19, 1925 to Dr. Frank Louis Brantley and Clennie Wiggins Brantley, in Madden Mississippi.  She was the fifth child out of nine children.  Carol loved growing up in a large family.  She attended East Central Junior College, then attended Mississippi Southern University where she in the Kappa Delta sorority. She later returned to be awarded her Master of Education.  She taught high school Business Education at Gulfport High School, and later moved to Jackson working in the oil services offices for Hester and Hester.  Carol met her husband Shelton W. Bolen while working and they were married in 1971.  Her sharp mind and quick wit endeared her to all who shared her friendship. Carol was a woman who truly lived.  She was very versatile and loved traveling, quilting, and gourmet cooking.  She really enjoyed gardening, especially working in her yard.  Her family and friends loved her dearly and she will be sorely missed.  She passed away peacefully on Sunday July 23rd, 2023 at Brandon Court Nursing Home in Brandon, Mississippi.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelton W. Bolen; her parents; her sisters Yvonne Johnson, Dorothy Scruggs, Frankie Taylor; and brothers, Gilbert Brantley, Osler Brantley and Doyle Brantley.

 

Carol is survived by her sister, Hilda Mayers (Dan) of Brandon; and brother, Karl Brantley (Alice) of Madden; stepson Randolph Bolen (Lydia); and grandchildren Amanda Brown (David), Katie Winstead (Brad), and Patrick Bolen (Whitney); six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to support the Madden Cemetery, C/O Wayne Brantley, P.O. Box 214, Madden, MS 39109.

 

A private graveside service for the family will be held in Madden, Mississippi.
