Carbie Eugene Farris, a resident of Flora MS, was born January 19, 1932, and passed from this life July 1, 2023. At the age of 91 years, 5 months and 12 days.  He was preceded in death by his father, General Lee Farris, his mother, Ethel (Long) Farris, one son, Larry Eugene Farris, two brothers GL and Dale Farris, and one sister Francis (Farris) Peel.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Barbara Mondale (Beavers) Farris, of  Flora, MS, one son Lennie Carl Farris and wife Dee of Kiln, MS, two sisters, Robbie and Ron O'Neil, of Brandon, MS, and Alice and Jackie Hinesley of Prairie Grove, AR.

Carbie was born in Onia, AR and grew up in Timbo, AR.  He was a truck driver delivering lumber and merchandise.  On February 10, 1952, at the age of 20 he entered the United States Navy.  He retired as Mess Management Specialist First Class, on September 1, 1981, with 30 years of service.  Carbie was a 100% service-connected veteran. 

During his naval career, his duty stations have been varied in that he served afloat in combatant ships and ashore at two Naval Stations and an Air Station.

His awards include the Good Conduct Award with five bronze stars, the  National Defense Medal with two bronze stars and the Korean Service Medal.  He was an outstanding Petty Officer.

After Carbie's Navil career he became a successful business owner operating a wrecker service, a bowling alley and several other businesses.

Carbie was a Christian, a member of Byram Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.

He will be greatly missed by his family and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be July 5, 2023, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton, Ms.  Visitation will be 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with service to follow.  The Grave Side Service with full military honors will be at Bethlehem Cemetery in Forkville, MS.
