Bobby Gene Keenum, Sr. went to be with our Lord on November 5, 2022. Visitation will be held at Ott & Lee Funeral Home, Brandon MS on November 9, 2022. Visitation is from 9:00 to 10:00 am with a graveside service at 2:00p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery, Slate Springs, MS.
He was born in Sumner, MS on June 7, 1934, to Maggie Lee Jeffords Keenum and James Leon Keenum. He graduated from West Tallahatchie High School in 1952. He attended Delta State University, and upon graduation moved to Jackson, Mississippi, where he met the love of his life, Martha Nell Latham. On June 14, 1956, he married Martha, and they continued their happy life together for 66 years.
He was in the automotive industry his entire career. He started Bob's Tire Mart in 1964 and then went to work for Harrell Tire and Front End in 1989. He worked there for 16 years and then retired.
He was an owner and member of the Capitol Gun Club in Jackson, Mississippi. They enjoyed traveling the southeast competing in trap and skeet shooting competitions. He also enjoyed watching college football- especially Mississippi State.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Martha Nell Latham Keenum, their children, Debra James (Joseph), Bobby G. Keenum, Jr. (Georganna); Grandchildren, Bryan James (Sharilyn), Lauren Keenum Younger, Andrew James (Taylor), Christopher James (Susanna), Bobby G. Keenum, III; great-grandchildren, Latham and Mary Michael Younger, Abby and Hannah James, and Noah James. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Maggie Lee and James Keenum and his brothers, James Keenum and Charles Keenum.
