Bobbie Alexander

November 1, 1941 — October 29, 2022

Brandon, MS

Bobbie Alexander, 80, of Brandon, MS. Passed away at home on Saturday, October 29, 2022. A visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm followed by a service at 1:00 pm Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home Brandon, MS. Graveside service and burial immediately following at Lakewood Memorial Cemetery on Clinton Blvd. Jackson, MS.

Bobbie was born November 1, 1941, to Ulmer Bates and Thelma Kennedy Bates in Scott County, MS. She grew up in Jackson and graduated from Central High School in 1960. She married Charlie Alexander May 15,1965 and became a policeman’s wife. They settled and lived in South Jackson to raise a family for the next 29 years before moving to Brandon, MS.

After graduation from cosmetology school and a brief career as a beautician, Bobbie went to work for the VA Hospital for the next 17 years as a supply clerk. She then went to work at the USPFO(United States Property Fiscal Office) as a logistics officer for the next 18 years before retiring from the federal government. Retirement life didn’t suit her, so after a year she went back to work at the CIC(Criminal Information Center) for the last 15 years and recently was promoted to Director Of Dispositions.

Bobbie was a long time and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Jackson, where she loved and was an active member of the Grace And Peace Ladies Sunday school class.

Bobbie was loving wife, mother, and Bebe to her grandchildren. She was a believer, a prayer warrior and had an unshakeable faith and love for Jesus. She was selfless and serving, especially when it came her family and friends. Bobbie was a proud mom and Bebe and never let an opportunity go by to tell you how wonderful and special they were. She was their #1 fan and wasn’t bashful about it. Her family was the greatest joy of her life, and she took great pride in spoiling them rotten constantly with love. She was the ultimate encourager. That was her gift. She was a 5 ft tall firecracker and could be fierce, especially when it came to her family and friends. She never was at loss for words and had no problem telling you how she felt. She was the official work mom at the CIC and loved drinking coffee with her work family Rusty Clark, Jeff Nester, and Priscilla Barr. She loved unconditionally, and was happiest surrounded by her family and friends.

Bobbie is preceded in death by her parents Ulmer and Thelma Bates. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years Charlie Alexander of Brandon, her loving son Lamar Alexander of Brandon, and her loving grandchildren, Parker Alexander and Skylar Alexander of Brandon.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bobbie’s honor to FBCJ, Grace and Peace Ladies Sunday school class, PO Box 250 Jackson, MS. 39205.
