Billy Vayne White, Sr.

Billy Vayne White, Sr. passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the age of 95.

Mr. White was born on January 26, 1930, in Pontotoc County, Mississippi, to Walter Wade White and Daisy Daniels White. He joined the Mississippi Army National Guard and served from 1948 to 1962. During that time, he was activated from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War and in 1962 in the Cuban Crisis. He served 20 years on the Clarksdale Police Department and became Chief of Police before retiring in 1973. This was followed by another 22 years of service in law enforcement with the Oxford Police Department, from which he retired in 1994 as Chief. He earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Mississippi at the age of 64.

Mr. White was married to Norma Rutledge White for 71 years before her passing in 2022, and together they had one son. He was also a member of the Brandon Church of the Nazarene.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Daisy White, and his beloved wife, Norma White.

Survivors include his son, Billy White, Jr. (Angela); grandchildren, Erin, Cody, Andrew, and Richard; and four great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon on Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm with the funeral service beginning in the chapel at 2:00 pm.
