Billy Ray Griffin, a cherished member of the community and a devoted family man, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, in his hometown of Rankin County. He was born on April 14, 1958, and spent his life deeply connected to the land and people around him.

Billy had a long and distinguished career as a manager at MMC Materials Inc., where he dedicated many years of service. His work ethic and leadership skills earned him the respect of his colleagues and the community alike. Beyond his professional achievements, he was best known for his love of the outdoors, where he found joy in camping, fishing, and riding the river. These moments allowed him to forge lasting friendships and create beautiful memories.

His passion for cooking brought delight to his family, as he often prepared meals that brought everyone together around the dining table. Billy was an avid gardener, which reflected his nurturing nature, and he took great pride in sharing the fruits of his labor with others.

Billy's commitment to service extended beyond his professional life; he dedicated many years to the Fire Service, showcasing his selflessness and bravery. Additionally, he was a Master Mason and a proud member of the Pelahatchie Lodge #276, where he formed bonds with fellow Masons and contributed positively to his community.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Tanya Griffin of Pelahatchie; his children, April Wallace (BJ) of Polkville, Jennifer Carter of Pelahatchie, and Shelby Chance (Matt) of Magee; and his six cherished grandchildren, Bradley Wallace, Delaney Carter, Paisley Chance, Payton Chance, Kimber Chance, and Luna Chance. Billy is also survived by his siblings, Tommy Griffin (Mary), JoAnne Banes (Donald), and Dorothy Fortenberry (William Earl), along with several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends who will remember him fondly.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Coyt Eugene Griffin and Shelby Jean Massey Griffin, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.

A visitation in honor of Billy will be held at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton on June 6, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by an additional visitation on June 7, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.  A funeral service will take place on June 7 at 11:00 AM from the Ott and Lee Chapel in Morton culminating with a graveside service at Line Creek Baptist Church at 11:45 PM.  Ott & Lee Funeral Homes in Morton is honored to serve the Griffin family.

Billy Ray Griffin's legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him. He leaves behind a world that is undeniably better for having had him in it.
