Beverly Smith

Beverly Karen Smith, age 82, a resident of Hattiesburg, MS went peaceably into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at her daughter’s home in Brandon, MS. Visitation will be held 10:00 am until 11:00 am Friday, December 23, 2022, at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday at the funeral home.

Ms. Smith was born on March 17, 1940, in Jackson, MS, to William Melvin Smith and Fannie Lou Buckley Smith. She served as a second-grade schoolteacher for 30 years before retiring. She was a great mother, sister, and daughter that was cherished very much. She loved her family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to her life. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.

Ms. Smith was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia K. Cole; parents, William Melvin Smith, and Fannie Lou Buckley Smith; and her sister, Barbara Diane Canterbury.

Ms. Smith is survived by her son, Dr. Alan Kevin Cole; daughter, Dr. Carla Cole Hewitt (Calvin); and a host of friends.
