Ann Clark McKay

Brandon, MS

Ann Clark McKay, 88, of Brandon, MS. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family. Ann was born in Louisville, MS. She was a graduate of Brandon High School where she was a cheerleader and homecoming queen. She married Jim Mckay, the love of her life, in 1954. She was a housewife as well as a secretary for Jim McKay Drywall Inc.

She was “Mama Ann” to many who knew her. Always there for football games, baseball games, rodeos, and any other activities the kids were involved in. Mama Ann loved spending time with her family and friends. She was everyone’s biggest cheerleader throughout the years.

Ann loved traveling with Jim, her family, and friends. Traveling to 48 of the United States, Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, Europe, the Bahamas and the Caribbean. Some of Ann’s Favorite hobbies were gardening, shopping and games. Ann was always up for a shopping trip. She loved shopping for unique clothing and decorative items. She spent several days a week playing Mexican train dominoes and cards with her friends.

She was known for being a gracious hostess. She was always cooking for friends and family. There were countless family meals, even very early breakfasts were enjoyed by many fishermen who stopped by on their way to the reservoir for homemade biscuits and the fixings! Those who visited the family at their deer camp, The Green Acres Hunting Club, will remember the breakfasts she prepared before early morning hunts, a lunch that was ready when they came in and a dinner that always consisted of deer steak, rice, tomato gravy and homemade biscuits.

Ann was a faithful member of Brandon Methodist Church for 70 years. She was a member of the Joy Sunday school class. She enjoyed spending time at church with her church family and friends. She always enjoyed helping with many church activities.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, her parents Edwin & Della Sue Clark, her brothers, E.R., Bobby & George Clark, sisters Jean Pearson & Sue Hilton. Mama Ann is survived by her children Deborah (Charles)Tucker and Pamela McKay Smith; grandchildren Emily (Shawn) Calhoun, Nicole Price, Laura (Matt) Smith, Cory (Raegan) Smith Josh (Tallie) Smith, Hunter Smith, ; great-grandchildren Cara Beth Calhoun, Case Calhoun, Zoe Smith, Annlea Smith, Landon Smith, Blythe Smith, Jasper Smith, Swade Smith, Scout Smith and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5:00pm until 8:00pm Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.  Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Brandon First Methodist Church with visitation starting at 10:00am at the church.  Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS.
