Angie Parkman

February 20, 1958 — January 27, 2023

Brandon, MS

Angelita Catherine Parkman, 64, of Pearl, passed away on January 27, 2023 after a long battle with cancer.  Visitation will be 2:00 - 5:00 pm Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.  Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday, January 30, 2023, in the chapel of the funeral home with visitation starting at 11:30 am prior.  Burial will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery in Lawrence, MS.

Angie was born on February 20, 1958, to James Austin Parkman and Leola Helen Harmon from Pulaski. After Angie graduated from Morton High School she went on to study Accounting at Belhaven University.

Angie fought her disease with grace and always kept a positive attitude in all occurrences. Angie was a long-time employee of Ergon as an accountant and fixed asset specialist for 35 years and felt blessed to receive such love and support from her work family.  During her battles, she motivated all of us to endeavor to be the best of ourselves.  Angie gave fully of herself to her “friend family” and reminded everyone life was about friends and family and not things. Angie fell in love with souls not faces.

Angie loved going to the beach, nature, and music concerts.  One of the last concerts she was able to attend was to see the Rolling Stones in New Orleans. She treasured her work family and multitude of friends and gave fully of herself to each.

But, her greatest joy and love is her son, Kenny Thomas.  She loved being his mom and it didn’t take a long conversation with her to realize she wanted Kenny to pursue life in its fullest and to find his passion.

Angie was predeceased by her father, her mother, her brother, Tommie C. Parkman, and the love of her life and Kenny’s dad, Bobby K. Thomas. She is survived by her only son, Kenneth L. Thomas and her nieces, nephews, cousins of the Parkman, Harmon and Thomas families and close friends she considered family.

Pallbearers:  Haynes Cook, Chance Black, Javier Avelar, Austin McDonald, Nicholas Lawrence, Benjamin Strickland.  Service by Rev. Bubba Sumrall and music provided by Mrs. Angie Rawls.

Honorary Pallbearers:  Ronnie Thomas, Randy Thomas, Jerry Thomas, and Jamie Oliver.
