Albert Lamar Robertson, 93, of Brandon, MS, passed away on January 22, 2026, at home surrounded by family. Visitation will be held on Thurs. Jan. 29, 2026 from 10am-12pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral services will be held at 12pm on Thurs. Jan. 29, 2026 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon, MS with burial to follow in the Crestview Memorial Gardens in Brandon, MS.
Albert was born on August 13, 1932, in Blackhawk, Mississippi, the 6th of 7 children born to Vardaman and Mamie Acy Robertson. Albert attended the Blackhawk School before enlisting in the United States Army in 1953. In 1957, he married Sarah Marquis. In 1958, they moved from Greenwood to Jackson, where they started their family. Albert and Sarah lived in Jackson for 48 years (except for a short four-year stint in Aberdeen) and were members of McDowell Road Baptist Church. Albert was an electrician for Norton Electric and later joined Fountain Electric, where he worked for 28 years before retiring in 1994. During his career, he was a member of the I.B.E.W. Local 480. After retirement, he continued working on small jobs as requested by friends and family. In 2006, Albert and Sarah moved to Brandon and joined Brandon Baptist Church. As a member of Brandon Baptist, Albert continued to put his electrician’s skills to good use as a volunteer with the Mississippi Nail Benders, building churches and church facilities across the United States.
Despite moving to Jackson in 1958, Albert regularly returned home to Blackhawk and eventually built “The Cabin” with his sons on family land, adjacent to three of his brothers. He spent many weekends at the cabin with his brothers, his sons, and other family members—really anyone who was willing to make the drive and sit a spell on the front porch swing. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and reader, and he never met a jigsaw puzzle he couldn’t complete.
When he wasn’t at the cabin, he could be found supporting his grandchildren’s, and later great-grandchildren’s, extracurricular activities. He was easily identifiable with either his film (later digital) or video camera around his neck and was always proudly telling anyone who looked his direction which one was his grandkid.
Albert is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Sarah Marquis Robertson, and their four children: Mark Robertson (Sallianne), Jay Robertson, Randy Robertson (Tina), and Rhonda Lloyd; seven grandchildren: Saranne Robertson Smith (Darrell), Mandie Robertson Whittle (Matt Sebren), Jaycie Robertson, Scottilyn Lloyd Darnell (Kaleb), Randi Lane Robertson, Rylie Robertson, and Luke Robertson; five great-grandchildren: Anne Presley Smith, Harper Smith, Sallie Jo Whittle, Cooper Whittle, and Charlie Darnell; and three bonus great-grandchildren: Izzy Sebren, Timothy Sebren (Skylea), and Kohen Sebren; one sister, Loretta Robertson Acey; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vardman and Mamie Robertson; his brother, Bud Robertson; his sister, Nita Robertson Daves; his brother, Guy Robertson; his sister, Cola Robertson Elliott; and his brother, L.V. Robertson.
The family would like to thank Samantha and Bro. Danny with Gentiva Hospice and a long list of caregivers for the love and kindness shown to Albert while caring for him: Shirley Young, Mary Arnold, Dena Shearrill, Tomeka Shearrill, Pearlie Fairley, Luretha Fairley, Carolyn Taylor, Felisha Partee, Shellye West, Mariah Harris, Victoria Floyd, and Joyce Spann.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Children’s of Mississippi.
