William “David” Holifield

William “David” Holifield, 80, passed away after a lengthy illness on Wednesday morning, November 23, 2022, at his home in Brandon, MS.

David was born in Laurel, MS on November 9, 1942 to Joshua B. and Grace Helen Holifield. He was the second oldest of seven children. He graduated from Myrick High School and furthered his education at Jones Community College where he graduated with a music degree. He married Margie Jordan, and they moved to Pearl, MS in 1963. They have two daughters, Vena and Pam.

David worked as a Tax Accountant for Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company and retired in 1998 with over 34 years of service. He enjoyed gospel music, especially the Gaithers’ Vocal Band. He also enjoyed playing the piano and attending Southern Gospel concerts throughout the years. David was a soft-spoken, kind-hearted man who loved his family and enjoyed cook outs and family gatherings.

Mr. Holifield was preceded in death by his Father, Joshua B. Holifield, Mother, Grace Helen Holifield, brother, Jerry A. Holifield, and infant granddaughter, Olivia Rose Wilkerson.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margie Holifield, daughter, Vena H. Harbour, daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Doug Wilkerson; Three granddaughters, Jordan Wilkerson, Madelyn Wilkerson, and Faith Harbour, and one grandson, Kord Wilkerson; Three sisters, Sylvia (Jim) Ledford, Elizabeth (Richard) Watson, and Glenda (Prentiss) Hood, and two brothers, Marvin (Susan) Holifield, and Richard Holifield.

Pallbearers will be Kord Wilkerson, Kyle Neely, Reggie Peagler, Michael Kinkead, Jonah Holland, and Isaac Herrington Honorary Pallbearers are Doug Wilkerson and Tommy Jordan.

Visitation will be held at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS on Sunday, November 27, 2022, from 9:00 until 12:00 with the service immediately following. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Grace.
