Peggy Mcalister

Peggy Joyce Walters McAlister, age 85 was born January 1, 1936, in Hattiesburg, MS.  She passed away peacefully on July 23, 2021 at Hospice Ministries in  Ridgeland.

She is survived by her daughter, LaDonna Thompson, grandchildren: Renee Thompson Nester, Jay Thompson and wife Sarah Catherine Thompson, Molly Kuhn and Kendall Kuhn, great grandchildren; Wes Nester, Laken Nester, Jacob Thompson, Cross Thompson, and Emma Kate Thompson.  Peggy is also survived by her brothers, Marshall Walters, Billy Walters, and Carl Walters and a sister, Gloria Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

Peggy married Edwin "Ed" McAlister on September 15, 1955.  Ed and Peggy were happily married for 61 years.  She worked for the State Title  Division for 31 years and was a member of Oak Forest Baptist Church for 25 years.  After moving to Pelahatchie, Peggy was a devoted member of Pelahatchie Baptist Church where she was a member of the Sunday School class.  She loved reading he Sunday School lesson from Mrs. Faye McKay every week.  Peggy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.  She was known as Mamaw to most people.  She could be described as a loving, kind and patient woman who always found good in everyone.    She is now rejoicing with her husband, Ed, her daughter, Melenda McAlister, and her grandson-in-law Jake Nester.

There will be a Memorial Service on  Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 10 am at Pelahatchie Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pelahatchie Baptist Church, FBC Fannin, Lake Baptist Church or Lake Baseball Booster Club.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
