Norma Snyder

August 23, 1922 — February 10, 2020

Forest, MS

Mrs. Norma Eileen Snyder was born in Joliet, IL on August 23, 1922 to her parents Otto Dewey and Ruth Maude Jones Heap. She passed away February 10, 2020 at Bee Hive Homes in Newton, MS at the age of 97.

Mrs. Snyder was a registered nurse, having worked at the Cochise County Hospital, in Arizona before tending to the responsibilities of raising four children. Providing nurture and care for her family as a homemaker were top priorities to her. She will be remembered as a devoted wife to her husband Keith, and a dedicated mother to Ruth, Dan, Tim and Grace. A Christian by her faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, she held membership in several churches over her lifetime, in particular First Baptist Church of Bisbee, AZ, where she served on the church nursery staff for over 20 years, and at Calvary Baptist Church in Newton, MS where the Snyders enjoyed fellowship and friendship when they relocated from Escanaba, MI sixteen years ago. She also shared her love of music with others, from early years with her children to the latter years with friends and family alike. Mrs. Norma used her expertise in refurbishing dolls in her “Holly Dolly Hospital,” donating her time and efforts to local Lions and Kiwanis Clubs. She will be missed by those who loved and knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband of over 70 years, World War II Army Veteran Keith Laverne Snyder, her parents, one grandchild, two brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her four children: Ruth (Gary) Armstrong of Fountain Hills, AZ; Dan (Joan) Snyder of Federal Way, WA; Tim (Mary Ann) Snyder of Joliet, IL and Grace (Randy) Norman of Lawrence, MS; eleven grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; one sister-in-law: Pat Heap; several nieces and nephews.
