Moses Roy Monk was born January 12, 1949 at Sebastopol, Scott County, MS to his parents Henry Leroy and Dorothy Ann Shaw Monk. He passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at the age of 70.

Blind from birth, Mr. Monk never allowed his handicap to be a hinderance, but he used his life as an opportunity help and serve others. He will be remembered as a hard worker and a servant of the Lord, using his abilities to sing, play the guitar and teach the Word of God to those he came in contact with, whether at the nursing home ministry or at the Cross Roads Church of God, where held membership and enjoyed the fellowship of brothers and sisters in Christ. His life testimony is summed up in the scriptures: “I love you and Jesus loves you more.” He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

His parents precede him in death as well as one brother, Andy and two sisters: Eunice Killens and Sue Windham.

He is survived his siblings: one Bobby Monk of Walnut Grove; six sisters: Liza Monk of Walnut Grove; Margie Sistrunk of Sebastopol; Mary Norwood of Union; Ida Shuler of Morton; Linda Thornsberry of Walnut Grove; one adopted sister: Sandra Burrell of Walnut Grove; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will begin at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at the Cross Roads Church of God. Interment will follow in the Pine Bur Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home.

Visitation will begin at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 and continue until service time Wednesday at the church.

Bro. Matt Clark, Bro. Delbert Lathem, Bro. Kelly Ray Clark, and Bro. Paul Sistrunk will officiate the service.

A special video presentation and remarks will be made by Kristy Lindsey.

Music will be provided by Sister Ann Clark, pianist, and soloists Randy Burrell, Mark Roberson, and Sandra Davis.

Cross Roads Church of God is located at 1935 Clyde B Rd., Walnut Grove, MS 39189.

Ott & Lee Funeral Home, 295 East First St., Forest, MS were entrusted with the arrangements.
