Miss Elma Smith

Miss Elma B. Smith, age 103, passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Rankin Merit River Oaks Hospital.  Visitation will be held 10am-11am, Monday, May 31, 2021 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.  Funeral services will be held 11am Monday in the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Springhill Cemetery.  Dr. Billy McKay will officiate the service.  Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.

Miss Smith was born in Rankin County on March 29, 1918.  She lived a very long life till the age of 103 as quoted from, Proverbs 16:31, "Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained in a righteous life."  Miss Elma was a very determined lady and wanted to do things for her self and her own way.  In her younger years she enjoyed working outside, enjoyed sewing and when her eye sight was good she enjoyed reading.  She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ohyler Smith and Winnie Louise Stevenson Smith; siblings, Wallace Smith, Mary Frances Smith, Euna Bowman, Ester Smith, and Louise Stevenson; nephews, Wallace Smith, Earl Smith and Dwyatt Smith.

She is survived by many nephews and nieces.

Pallbearers will be Michael Bowman, Kurt Windham, Richard Rogers, Paul Smith, Chris Smith and Colin Smith.

Memorials may be made in her honor to Pelahatchie Baptist Church.
