Mary Jones

Mary Marguerite Hill Jones, 94, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS.  Visitation will be 6-8pm Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.  Services will be 11:30am Friday, August 12, 2022, in the chapel of the funeral home with visitation starting at 10am prior.  Interment will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, MS.

Mary was born on August 29, 1927, in Columbus, MS to Rufus Levi Hill and Lillie Shepherd Hill. She worked as an Operator for many years at Bellsouth Telephone Company, later retiring from the Collections department. Mary enjoyed her work, going to the casino, chocolate, cooking, and baking cakes. She loved her family and spending time with them brought great joy to her life. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.

Mary was preceded in death by parents, Rufus Levi Hill and Lillie Shepherd Hill; grandson, Hayden E. Jones, Jr.; brother, William “Bill” Hill, Ed Hill, and George Hill.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Bonita Mills; son, Hayden Earl Jones, Sr. and wife Gloria; siblings, Maynard, Anita, Catherine, and James “Frank”; grandchildren, Dynasty Palaganas, Katie Mills, and Haylee Jones; great grandchildren, Carson Kai Palaganas, and Harper Joie Palaganas; many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
