Loyd Long

Loyd Glynn Long, age 59, a resident of Brandon, MS passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2022, in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 pm Friday, August 5, 2022, at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. A funeral mass will be held 10:00 am Saturday, August 6, 2022, at St. Therese Catholic Church in Jackson, MS with interment to follow.

Mr. Long was born May 28, 1963, in Jackson, MS to Loyd Long and Ersel Carr Long. He was married to Neva Tanya Hutchins Long. He received his BA degree from Belhaven University in Jackson, MS.  Mr. Long was in Sales for many years and enjoyed serving his customers. He served as president of St. Vincent De Paul Society. He had a love for hunting, fishing, Arkansas Razorback sports, friends, and most of all his family. He will be remembered as a family man that loved to be with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He never met a stranger and enjoyed meeting new people. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

Mr. Long was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd Long and Ersel Carr Long; brother, Dean Long; sisters, Diane Long Sanders and Joanne Long Johnson.

Mr. Long is survived by his wife of 33 years, Neva Tanya Hutchins Long; son, Justin Long (Charity); daughter, Neva Long Atwood (Joseph); grandchildren, Tanner McMillan and Madisyn Long, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in the name of Swayzie Gundy or any of the children fighting cancer.
