Helen Marie Thompson Shumaker, born July 7, 1937, passed away at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center November 23, 2022.

Helen was born and raised in Leesburg, MS. She was the seventh of nine children. Her beauty and athleticism were admired and her skill on the basketball court legendary.

Throughout her life she lived in Jackson, Clinton and the longest in Brandon, at the Ross Barnett Reservoir. In her early adult life she worked as a cosmetic consultant for Patterson Drug store downtown Jackson and was trained as a dental assistant by her lifelong friend Dr. Louie Short. She later devoted her life to her family as a housewife and mother.

She traveled extensively throughout many countries and never met a stranger. She was always fascinated with the life stories of others and found everyone interesting. She was a loyal Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was always dressed for a fashion show and never without a smile.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents Jimmy and Lorene Thompson; brothers James, Hilton and Jimmy; sisters Rachel, Clara, Betty and Patsy. She is survived by her son Tim and his wife Mandy; grandchildren Jordan, Maria, Josh and Lauren; great grandchild Alexander; brother Bobby Thompson; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Brent Thompson, Mike Massey, Patrick Thompson, Joey Thompson, Corey Stevens and Casey Stevens.  Honorary pallbearers will be JR Renfroe, Randy Renfroe, Jason Massey, Ricky Thompson and Eugene Ivy.

Helen was affectionately known as GiGi by her children and grandchildren. She was the Queen of her family and will remain forever the Queen in their hearts. They are especially grateful to Helen's sister-in-law and niece Dorothy and Pippi Thompson for their devotion, love, and support.
