Frank Cupit

January 27, 1942 — September 10, 2021

Brandon, MS

Frank Rudolph Cupit, 79, passed away peacefully on Fri. Sept. 10, 2021 at his home in Brandon. Visitation will be held on Tues. Sept. 14, 2021 from 10am-12pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Graveside services will be held at 3pm on Tues. Sept. 14, 2021 at the Union Church Cemetery in Jefferson County, MS located across from the Union Church Presbyterian Church.

Born in Union Church, Mississippi, on January 27, 1942, to Jeff Truly and Mary Louise Osborne Cupit, Frank was the youngest of three boys.  They were farmers, and the boys were all expected to help before and after school.  Tasked with milking the cows before daylight, Frank began his life-long habit of early to bed and early to rise.  His exceptional work ethic and sense of responsibility were born from these early years.  When the work was done his time was spent gallivanting through the county with his Osborne cousins.

Frank graduated from Jefferson High School in 1959.  He lived with Malcolm’s family in Jackson while attending barber school then lived with his mother’s sister, Anna Bess, before marrying Ernestine Ross on May 20, 1967.  Shortly afterwards he was recruited to Jackson Paper Company by one of his clients.  There, he found his calling as a Sales Representative, member of the Board of Directors and Vice President of Sales, retiring after 40 years of service in 2006.

Known for going out of his way to help his family, friends and customers, Frank was generous with his time and resources. It was not unusual for him to go to Jackson Paper on a weekend to get something for a customer, to help friends paint their houses or fix their vehicles, or to help a family member get through a tight spot in life.  He did all with a happy heart because he enjoyed helping people.

Every year he looked forward to the opening day of turkey season in the spring and squirrel and deer seasons in the fall.  In the early years he sought out the best hunting spots, particularly along the river around Church Hill.  In the later years he was just as happy to watch for deer from The Old House’s back porch or kitchen window, or from the driver’s seat in his pickup truck.  He transferred his love of the outdoors to his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Malcolm and Randall, and daughter, Kristi.

He will be missed by his surviving family which includes: wife, Ernestine Cupit; daughter, Dana Mabry; son-in-law, Jason Mabry; sister-in-law, Eva Cupit; brother-in-law, Bill Ross; grandchildren, Ashton Elizabeth Cobb, Tyler Ian Mabry, Hailee Grace Cobb, and James Truly Mabry along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  We all love him and know that we will get to shoot the breeze with him again one early morning in the presence of our Lord.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to Baptist Hospice Ministries.
