Amy Morris

April 21, 1979 — March 11, 2020

Brandon

Amy Dianne Mitcham Morris was born on April 21, 1979, in Jackson, MS.  She grew up in Pelahatchie, MS, where she could often be found with her brother Michael and her parents working in their garden or spending time with her Granny.  Amy went to school at Pelahatchie Attendance Center, where she graduated Valedictorian of her class.  She was known for keeping the books for the baseball team and videoing games for the football coach, as well as playing the clarinet in the marching band.  After graduation, Amy received her Associates Degree in radiology.

On November 2, 2001, Amy married the love of her life, Alva Morris, and together with their daughter Tymber, they started their new life together.  On January 16, 2004, Tristen was born and their family of three became a family of four.

Amy worked at the VA hospital in Jackson, MS, until 2014,when they moved to Pierre, SD.  In 2017 they moved to Minnesota, where they most recently settled in St. Cloud.  In 2016, Amy decided to further her education and earned her Bachelor’s in Healthcare management, followed by her Master’sin Healthcare Informatics. Amy loved being with her family, whether it was camping or supporting Tymber or Tristen as they pursued their passions.  Her selfless personality of always giving her time, friendship, love, and support to others was boundless. Her impact on the lives of those who love her cannot be measured.

On Feb 28, 2020, Amy and Alva received news they never expected to hear; Amy had widespread cancer, and it was terminal.  They immediately started making plans to return to Mississippi so she could see her family; however, the cancer was too aggressive.  Regretfully on March 11, 2020, at the age of 40 and less than two weeks after her initial diagnosis, Amy passed away in Alva’s arms with her children by her side.

Amy is survived by her husband Alva Morris and her son Tristen Morris of St. Cloud, MN; daughter Tymber Gunter (Austin) of Brandon, MS; parents Vernon and Mary Mitcham of Pelahatchie, MS; brother Michael Mitcham (Ruth) of Greenbrier, TN as well as nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Amy is preceded in death by her grandparents DV and Willie Mitcham as well as WT and Mary Martin.  She is also preceded by her brother Chris Mitcham.
