Wanda Joyce Applegate Wooten, beloved wife, mother, and sister, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026, at her home in Brandon, Mississippi, at the age of 78.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Wanda will be laid to rest in Damascus Cemetery in a private service surrounded by her family.

Wanda was born on October 11, 1947, in Rosedale, Mississippi, to Harry Applegate and Joyce Figg Applegate. She spent her childhood in Rosedale, moving to Jackson and Walnut Grove in later years, and finally settling in Brandon. She earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Millsaps College, and she was a social worker and activity coordinator for Carthage Healthcare Center.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Joyce Applegate; husband, William Eugene Wooten; and sister, Kathy Warfield.

Survivors include her children, William Eugene Wooten, Jr. and Andrea Elizabeth Beaudette (Jack); grandchildren, Mikaela Elizabeth Weems, Brian Beaudette, Nick Beaudette, and Ryan Beaudette; great grandchild, Kai Beaudette; brothers, John Applegate and Rusty Applegate; nieces, Emery Grace Applegate, Anna Cress Grisham, Paisley Grisham, and Mallie Grisham; and nephews, Trey Grisham, Stevie Grisham, Robert Wayne Grant, and Matthew Grant.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
