Teresa Lanell Smith Lovett (1938-2026)

Teresa Lovett passed away at Generations Senior Living in Lee County, MS, a place she lovingly referred to as home for the past five years.

Teresa was born July 28, 1938, to Clarence Raymond and Jewel Wolf Smith in Forest, MS. She married A.M. “Buddy” Lovett in 1958, and they were married until his passing in 2018.

She graduated from MS College with a degree in Elementary Education, and she taught school in the Scott County School District for many years. She later taught GED classes until her retirement.

While living in Morton, she was a faithful member of Morton United Methodist Church where she supported the choirs that Buddy directed. She said that she was not a singer, but she enjoyed hosting the choirs for gatherings in the home.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and Luther Tallant; son, John Lovett; grandsons, Ben Tallant, J.M. Lovett; sisters, Crawford Fischer(Marty), Patricia Kirkland(Tom); and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Leona Love, Harold Smith, Ralph Smith, Buddy Smith, Elizabeth Donnell, Chester Smith, Baker Smith.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 6, 2026, from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton with the funeral service at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel.
