IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert B.
McKnight, Jr.
March 5, 1948 – January 27, 2026
Robert B. McKnight Jr., age 77, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, in Oxford, Mississippi. He was born on March 5, 1948, in Jackson, Mississippi.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Jan McKnight, and his children: Brad McKnight (Jen) and their sons Luke and Colton; Brian McKnight; Molly Sullivan (Tom) and their sons Cooper, McCann, and Baker; and Jeff Hogan (Ann) and their children Maddie and Ben. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert McKnight Sr. and Beatrice McKnight, and his beloved grandson, John Michael Sullivan.
Robert began his career in banking at Trustmark in Jackson, Mississippi, and spent many years with Deposit Guarantee in Laurel. He later returned to Jackson, where he worked for many years in sales with Communigroup. He also proudly served four years in the National Guard.
A 1966 graduate of Provine High School in Jackson, Robert formed friendships during those years that he cherished for a lifetime. In his younger days, he played keyboard in a band with close friends, a passion that continued whenever they gathered as adults. He loved hunting and fishing, and later found joy and lasting friendships playing World of Warcraft. Above all, he was an enthusiastic and devoted supporter of Ole Miss athletics.
Robert was known for his kindness, outgoing spirit, and genuine care for others. He could make friends anywhere and was an exceptionally supportive father and grandfather, as well as a deeply loving husband. He fostered strong, meaningful bonds not only with his own children, but also with many of their friends who loved him and came to see him as someone they could always count on for support, encouragement, and steady guidance. His faith was strong and unwavering, and he lived his Christian beliefs through the way he loved and showed up for others.
Visitation will be held on February 1, 2026, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, Mississippi. All are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Robert’s name to The Grove at Ole Miss to assist with repairs following the recent snow and ice storm.
Robert’s life was full of love, laughter, loyalty, and faith and he would want to be remembered with his favorite words:
“Hotty Toddy!!”
