Diamondhead

Ricky Wayne Seward of Diamondhead, Mississippi passed away at home on Wednesday, January 1st, 2025.

He was born on January 21st, 1956 in Philadelphia, Mississippi to Donald and Alleyne Seward, who proceed him in death. He is also proceeded in death by his late wife, Leslie Seward, and his brother, Keith Seward.

Ricky is survived by his children, Brad Seward (Kelly) of Covington, Louisiana, Wes Seward of Brandon, Mississippi, and Savannah Day (Dutton) of Pearl, Mississippi; and his grandsons, whom were the lights of his life, Jackson Everett Seward and Luke Oliver Seward. Other survivors include his sister in law, Erica Seward; the mother of his sons, Delores Myers; and a host of family members and friends.

Ricky spent the majority of his childhood in Pearl, Mississippi where he graduated from Pearl High School in 1974. He then attended Hinds Community College for two years where played collegiate baseball. After his time at Hinds, he went on to finish his collegiate studies at the University of Southern Mississippi on a baseball scholarship. Playing baseball as a Golden Eagle was one of Ricky’s great prides in life. He graduated from Southern Mississippi in 1978 and soon after began what would become a 46 year career in the pipe and valve industry. In this time, Ricky would become known as the ultimate valve sales guy, never forgetting a face or name. And no matter where you went with Ricky, he was sure to see a customer or former colleague. In July of 2024, Ricky decided to retire, and as no surprise to his family, he returned to work less than two months later. There was no slowing him down. Ricky loved traveling and visited all 50 states over the years. He enjoyed good wine and fine dining, but arguably appreciated a good bargain more. He loved watching collegiate sports on an oversized television, and was a dedicated New Orleans Saints fan. He greatly enjoyed the past few years, fulfilling his dream of living on the golf course, hosting friends and family at his condo. Above all else, he loved spending time with his two grandsons and watching them become playful young boys. He was most proud to be their “Pops”. Ricky was loved dearly and will be missed by many.

In lieu of flowers, and in the spirit of sharing, donations can be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital or The American Heart Association.
