Raymond Gilbert Brockney, Sr.

Raymond Gilbert Brockney, Sr., age 89, of Athol, MA, passed away on August 4, 2024, in Brandon, MS, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, love, and kindness. Born on August 3, 1935, to Burl Brockney and Mary Louise Gilbert Brockney, Raymond's life was marked by resilience and a deep appreciation for the simple joys life had to offer. 

Raymond was a man of many talents and interests. He found a solace in nature and shared his passion for the outdoors with is son, Raymond Jr., canoeing rivers, ponds and lakes together throughout the northeast. Raymond enjoyed activities like cutting down trees, chopping firewood, hiking, and cycling. His work ethic was unparalleled; Raymond took on his first job at the tender age of ten and continued to exemplify strength and determination throughout his life. He often juggled multiple jobs to ensure a comfortable life for his family and instilled in his children the values of gratitude and resilience. 

Those who knew Raymond remember him as a kind and humble soul. His words "I appreciate it" echoed his gratitude towards others, showcasing his gentle nature and selfless spirit. Raymond's presence brought warmth and comfort to those around him, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. 

Raymond is survived by his daughters and sons: Raylene (Jerry) Stephens, Allyson C. Herk, Raymond G. (Robin) Brockney Jr., Walter J. Chenausky, and Mark A. Chenausky; as well as ten grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; Burl Brockney and Mary Louise Gilbert Brockney; as well as his children: Randy Burl Brockney, Jennifer Brockney, and Scott Russell Chenausky. 

Raymond Gilbert Brockney, Sr.'s earthly journey may have come to an end, but his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. He will be dearly missed but fondly remembered for his unwavering love, strong work ethic, and compassionate soul. May he rest in eternal peace knowing that he touched the lives of many with his kindness and grace.
