Peggy Reeves,  passed away peacefully at her residence on July 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and devoted husband. Born on March 4, 1951, in Scott County, Peggy lived a life marked by unwavering dedication to her family, her career, and her passions.

Service will be held 11am Friday at Clifton Baptist Church.

Graveside will follow at Clifton Baptist Cemetery.

Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton is honored to serve the Reeves family.

Throughout her many years of service with the State of Mississippi, Peggy earned the respect of her colleagues and community. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her generosity and warmth outside the office. Upon retiring, she continued to pour her energy and affection into her home and loved ones.

Peggy was known for her remarkable green thumb. She found profound joy in working in her yard, tending especially to her beloved roses. Among them, the "Just Joey Rose," planted in memory of her precious son who predeceased her, stood as a lasting tribute to the bond between mother and child. Her garden was also adorned with many flourishing Christmas cactus, each a testament to her nurturing spirit.

Baking and sewing were among Peggy’s cherished pastimes, and she was happiest when expressing her love for her family through the food and gifts she so thoughtfully prepared. Her children, husband, and grandchildren were at the heart of everything she did.

Peggy’s legacy endures in the lives of those she leaves behind: her loving husband James Reeves of Forkville Community; her children, Autumn Methvin of Morton, Jared Reeves (Brittany) of LA, Nathaniel Reeves (Jennifer) of Brookhaven, and Stephanie Smith (Jake) of Brookhaven; her grandchildren Anna Leigh Dearing (Preston) , Brooklyn Reeves, Garrett Reeves, Gage Reeves (Lacey), Gavin Reeves, Kelsey Smith, Maggie Smith, and Riley Jo Smith; her siblings Doris Tyler, Jeff Warren, Moray Henry, and Rayford Henry; and her dear friend Peggy Sweet.

Peggy is now reunited with loved ones who have gone before her: her father Van Buren Henry, mother Minnie Merle Gatewood Warren, father James Sam Warren, her beloved son Joseph Tyler "Joey" Reeves, her grandparents Robert Gatewood, Allie Harrison Gatewood, Davis Leon  and Allie Goodson Henry, and her siblings David Henry, Tony Ray Henry, and Sandra Henry.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Warren, Preston McDonald, Garrett Reeves, Gage Reeves, Gavin Reeves and Josh Merchant.

Peggy Reeves will be remembered for her devotion to family, her kindness, and the beauty she brought into the world—whether through her garden, her crafts, or her generous heart. Her memory will be cherished in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
