It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Mary Ann Banes Neal, who departed this life on February 14, 2026, at the University Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. Born on August 13, 1939, in Meridian, Mississippi, Mary lived a life full of love, compassion, and dedication to her family and community.
Mary was a devoted wife to her late husband, Alonzo Layton Neal, with whom she shared a deep and abiding bond. Together, they owned and operated Neal's Meter Repair, where Mary served as the secretary and manager, ensuring that operations ran smoothly while supporting Alonzo in every endeavor. Their partnership was an exemplification of mutual respect and love, and her life was forever changed after his passing.
Mary was actively involved in her church community, being a cherished member of Barefoot Springs Baptist Church in Pelahatchie for many years before relocating to Pearl, Mississippi. While there, she participated in the Echoes of Grace Life Group at Crossgates Baptist Church, as well as the Prime Timers Senior Group. Her faith was an integral part of her life, guiding her interactions and enriching her relationships.
A woman of many interests, Mary found joy in reading on her kindle and taking leisure trips with Alonzo to beautiful locations like Yellowstone and the Bad Lands. She relished spending time outdoors, nurturing her beautiful flowers in the sunshine, and enjoyed lively gatherings playing Bunco with friends. The beach was a favorite destination, and she always looked forward to trips with family or friends.
