Michael Steven “Steve” Crotwell
(December 23, 1965-March 28, 2026)
Steve Crotwell, lifelong resident of Morton, MS died at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS after an extensive illness.
Steve attended East Rankin Academy where he excelled in basketball, football and baseball and was voted Most Handsome He was also an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, deer and dove hunt. His love for the outdoors came from long hours in rural Rankin County with his Pappaw George Duncan. Steve also showed cattle as a teenager and loved to work on Pappaw’s farm where he worked with his hands fixing fences and bush hogging.
Steve attended Hinds Junior College where he studied Agriculture. He also attended East Central Junior College. He began his electrical career with Laurel Industrial Electric in Forest, MS. He later joined Control Systems in Jackson, MS where he worked for over 25 years.
Steve attended First Baptist Church of Morton.
Steve’s family includes his mother, Barbara Duncan Ott; his son Colby Steven Crotwell of Brandon; his daughter Kaley Crotwell Hardy (Tyler); his sister Helen Elizabeth (Angel) Ott of Brandon; his brother James L. (Jay) Ott (Alison) of Brandon; and brother Kevin Curtis Crotwell (Felicia) of Morton. Other family members include his granddaughter Reese Avery Hardy and a number of nieces and nephews. Steve’s father was the late James L. Ott of Morton. Steve’s grandparents were George and Rosa Duncan, Morton and Adolphus and Willie Grace Crotwell also of Morton.
The family will hold a private service on Tuesday, March 31 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home.
There will be a public graveside service, 2pm Tuesday, March, 2026 at Morton Memorial Gardens.
Honorary pallbearers: Jay Ott, Kevin Crotwell, Colby Crotwell, Luke Ott, Wiley Carter, and Cooper Crotwell.
All memorials should be made to the First Baptist Church Morton Choir Fund, P.O. Box 110, Morton, MS 39117.
