Michael Wayne
Darby
July 29, 1970 – April 9, 2026
On April 9, 2026, our beloved brother, father, son, nephew, and cousin, Michael Wayne Darby, went to join his mother, Anita Estes Darby, in Heaven at the age of 55.
Michael, the son of Anita and Wayne Darby, grew up in Jackson, Mississippi, and graduated from Jim Hill High School. He was an avid sports fan, especially devoted to Auburn University football and the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he loved playing a multitude of sports throughout his life. He grew up at Calvary Baptist Church, where he spent countless hours playing basketball in the old second-story gymnasium, memories that stayed close to his heart.
Michael had a contagious smile that could light up any room, and he never met a stranger. His ability to connect with people was unmatched, and his presence made everyone feel welcome. He lived life full throttle. Always all in, always with heart, and always making the most of every moment.
More than anything, Michael’s greatest pride and joy was his three daughters: Meredith Rae Darby (20), Makenna Nicole Darby (17), and Meghan Elizabeth Darby (13). They were his world. He loved them fiercely and unconditionally, and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for his girls. He celebrated their accomplishments, supported them through every stage of life, and made sure they always knew how deeply they were loved. Being their dad was his proudest role, and that love will live on through each of them.
Michael is survived by his father, Wayne Darby; his sister, Sarah Darby Donald; his brother, Matthew Douglas Darby; and his three daughters. Family meant everything to Michael, and the bond he shared with them will forever be cherished.
