Mary Elizabeth Burnett passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the age of 75.

Mary was born on April 18, 1951, in Picayune, Mississippi, to James Milford Wise and Marjorie Barrett Wise. She married Rudy Nichols Burnett on October 20, 1978. Later that same year, they made Brandon, Mississippi, their home.

Mary was a loving and devoted wife to Rudy Burnett and mother to her daughters, Katie and Nicole. She took great pride in being a grandmother to Gavin and Greyson. Her family was at the heart of her life, and the memories they made together will be treasured always.

Mary worked as a clerk in the energy business before her retirement and was a longtime member of Brandon Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her love of her family, her dedication to her home, and the many ways she cared for the people she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Milford and Marjorie Wise.

She leaves behind her beloved husband, Rudy Burnett; daughters, Katie Nelson (Jeremy) and Nicole Burnett; and grandsons, Gavin and Greyson Nelson. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and again on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Burnett Cemetery in Clear Springs, Mississippi, in Smith County.
